In February of 2009, a bill expanding on the tax credit for energy efficient improvements was signed into law. Metro Atlanta homes with new garage doors installed in 2009 or 2010 may be eligible for this tax credit of up to $1,500. Generally speaking, garage doors that have a U-factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of equal to or less than .30 are eligible. There are also additional requirements to qualify for the tax credit that depend of the structure of the home.
